Course Description
This is a standard class that meets once per week for 8 consecutive weeks: May 7 – June 25. To begin this level, students must have completed the New Concept Chinese 1 book or have a solid foundation and understanding of the basics of the Chinese language. This intermediate course (CEFR A2/HSK2) starts a new textbook and covers travel and daily life scenarios. Students learn to talk about past trips, using the “是…的” construction to emphasize details such as when or how an event happened. Students will also practice handling practical situations like booking transportation or checking out of a hotel. The course introduces verb complements to describe how well something is done (e.g., speaking Chinese fluently) and to express abilities (like being able to sing or use chopsticks). By the end, students can describe past events in detail, manage basic travel-related tasks, and discuss personal abilities in Chinese.
